A tragedy ...

Before I begin, I offer my sincerest condolences to those who have had personal losses in the Mumbai Takeover dated 26th Nov.

As I was watching NDTV, I found an emotive Shobha De taking on the politics of India, in the presence of the ever-effervescent Barkha Dutt.

What has prompted me write this blog is what I believe an immature take of these icons on the whole incidents that have been happening.

Shobha De pledged her support and spoke out to the politicians to not tread in Mumbai again. An act of anger, I presume. Where was all this commotion when there were blasts in Jaipur? Where was this hullabaloo post the massacre in Guwahati ?

This is a part of a bigger malaise. There were many entities that went wrong, the Intelligence (accept or not, this was a miserable failure) being the biggest culprit. The politicians have always been muppets, atleast in a twisted democracy like ours.

But to pass harsh judgements in such a sensitive situation, and that from responsible icons, was uncalled for. What was Shobha De thinking of when she demanded for the detachment from everyone else? Enraging and intensifying the situation in the name of the spirit of Mumbai, well, I found it very immature.

Understand the root problem. Its just not sufficient to react, we ought to infact quite strongly. But more importantly, we ought to react wisely, even if that means overt aggression. Its time we stand up together, rather than panic and lose control.

That is what is real spirit !
